- Prepare for the Worst. – Stock up on first aid products, batteries, flashlights, non-perishable foods, and more so you can withstand a sustained power outage. Keep a supply of bottled water handy, too.
- Seek Shelter – As soon as you catch wind of an impending electrical storm, seek indoor shelter.
- Swim with a Buddy – Even adults should not swim alone, even when close to shore or in a pool. If you go it alone anyway, let someone know so they can check up on you.
- Keep Track of Air Quality – Another common summer problem is poor outdoor air quality. If you suffer from asthma or allergies, keep an eye on the air quality index and then limit your outdoor exposure before you have difficulty breathing.
