Two Great Ways to Save Water and Money
Breaking news: prices are going up on just about everything you purchase. In truth, there’s nothing “breaking” about it. Rising prices have simply become a temporary way of life.
Well, as we all wait for market conditions to start reversing themselves, Messmer Mechanical offers you new ways to save. And we’re more than happy to share the news.
Pressure Assisted Toilets
Older model toilets use up to 5 gallons of water per flush. Talk about wasted water! Over time, the maximum amount of water needed dropped from 3-5 gallons to 1.6 gallons per flush. That was an enormous achievement all its own. And yet many homeowners complained that it took two flushes to get the job done. In other cases, older homeowners weren’t interested in the water savings while their older toilets continued to perform with only minor adjustments needed on occasion.
Then along came pressure-assisted toilets, now available to you from Messmer Mechanical. Pressure-assisted toilets are both efficient and powerful, ensuring your toilet can flush properly even with a bare minimum of water.
Pressure-assisted toilers have airtight plastic tanks inside the porcelain tanks where water is stored. The toilet uses both water and pressurized air to increase the velocity of the flushing water. It generates a powerful flush, using only about 1.1 to 1.4 GPF. Additionally, the increased velocity of the water helps break up any larger waste, so the toilet doesn’t require a larger trapway.
The point is, use less water, save more money.
Water Leaks
Let’s assume you’re a patient person. As such, you have a downstairs bathroom that rarely gets used. When you clean it, you notice the faucet is dripping ever so slowly. The next time you clean, it’s still dripping and, just like every other time, you vow to get it fixed. But it’s a week or two before you notice the drip again, and ever so easy to forget about in between.
Well, consider this. A very typical leak of 10 drips per minute wastes nearly one gallon per day, or 29 gallons per month. That might cost you less than $1 per month. But what about fast drips? A faucet or shower head that leaks 120 drips per minute wastes 11 gallons per day, or 330 gallons per month.
No matter how small the leak, don’t ignore it. As for those you can’t see – like those in in underground pipes, behind walls, or above ceilings – ignoring the symptoms can cause untold water leakage plus serious damage to your home and property.
Any time you need help in locating and repairing a pipe leak, contact Messmer Mechanical for prompt and decisive action – with your 100% satisfaction guaranteed. You’ll not only conserve water and save money. You won’t sacrifice an ounce of convenience.
