How to Detect a Pipe Leak

Some household water leaks are easy to spot…either by sight, sound, or both.  Those can’t do any damage or waste very much water unless you allow them to.

• Water bills that seem unusually high.
• Water meter readings that change even when no water is being used.
• Chronic sewer backups.
• Running toilets.
• Running water sounds when no water source, not even the toilet in question, is in use.
• Spongy, soft, or discolored walls.
• Musty odors from floors, walls near drains, or sewers.
• Cracked or unusually damp foundation or slab.
• Warm areas on concrete floors, mildew, or excess moisture under carpets.
• Unusually wet or moist areas in your yard.
