The Lighter Side of Plumbing

We’ve been in the plumbing business for a very long time.  Not that we don’t come across humorous situations in our heating and cooling work but plumbing just seems to provide more frequent opportunities.

Here are to archival stories from the world of plumbing we think you will enjoy:

A bank manager contacted a local plumbing contracted to determine whey their water heater wasn’t working. The manager explained that the system was 20 years old and suspected it had simply outlived its usefulness.

When he arrived at the bank, the plumber was brought to the malfunctioning water heaters. After a cursory inspection, he found nothing wrong with it.  Then he asked the bank manager when he first noticed a problem with the system.  “When we first had it installed,” was the reply.  It didn’t produce hot water then and we’ve been working without it ever since.”

That prompted the plumber to look at the tank, only to find that the switch was in the “off” position. He clicked it on and soon thereafter, there was plenty of hot water to go around.

Talk about problems that don’t require the services of a professional plumber!

Once there was a plumber who arrived at an upscale home, only to be greeted by a rather disagreeable wife at the front door. He had been called to complete a new bathroom rough-in. The husband also was home but, by contrast, was pleasant and welcoming.

Two weeks later, the wife called the plumber to voice her dissatisfaction. According to her, the rough-in had caused massive leaks that affected not only the new bathroom, but the ceilings below. The plumber quickly arrived on the scene to check out the alleged problem.

While seeing no signs of a water leak, he did notice that water apparently had been splashed in random fashion all over the bathroom. Before he had a chance to present his findings, the couple’s daughter poked her head into the bathroom asking if the plumber had come to investigate the results of the water balloon fight that recently took place between her two brothers. The young girl also revealed that her mom told her to “Tell Daddy that this was the fault of the ‘stupid” plumber.”

Let’s just say this episode did not end well for the couple’s children.
