Plumbing isn’t just any ol’ service. It’s a service provided by people you need to trust. Whose qualifications must be rock solid. After all, your family’s comfort, convenience, and safety depend on it.
Plus, a plumber is someone you invite into your home. Need any more reasons to ask before you hire?
For your own peace of mind, Messmer Mechanical urges you to ask the following 10 key questions before choosing a plumber, no matter how large or small the job.
1. Are they licensed?
2. What kinds and amounts of insurance coverage do they carry?
3. Are they members of their local Better Business Bureau so you can determine if they have any recent complaints against them?
4. Ask for a written estimate, including what it covers, and what it doesn’t.
5. Ask for details and written proof of manufacturer, parts, and/or labor warranties.
6. When appropriate, ask the plumber whether they will be responsible for obtaining all necessary permits.
7. Ask about the quality of materials or products that are being installed. You may pay more at first for superior quality, but you’re bound to enjoy more reliable and longer-lasting performance.
8. “Mr. Plumber, how long have you been in business. Do you have references or customer testimonials you can share with me?”
9. You also want to know if they are experienced in doing the kind of work you currently need done. Not every plumber specializes in every kind of plumbing job.
10. And last in out “Top 10” list, ask about the plumber’s commitment to safety…yours and his. Just as one example, plumbing that involves copper wiring may also involve torch soldering. If your plumber is working in close quarters need drywall or other flammable material, then there’s a risk of fire.
Ask these and any other questions you like of Messmer Mechanical and we’re confident we’ll meet or exceed your expectations on each count. But no matter who you hire, we just want to help you make the right decision. It’s that important.
