Geothermal Heat Pump

Nothing Beats a Heat Pump for Energy Efficiency and Savings.

Powered by electricity, a geothermal heat pump (GHP) – also known as a ground-source heat pump – uses the relatively constant temperatures of the earth just below the surface to heat and cool your home with the ultimate in energy efficiency and savings.

When it’s cold outside and you need more heat indoors, the Climate Master heat pumps we install absorb heat stored in the ground through the water that circulates in the system’s underground loop. The heat is then concentrated and distributed as warm, comfortable air throughout your home.

In the summer when things heat up outside and you need cooler air indoors, your Climate Master heat pump works in reverse. Namely, it absorbs heat from inside your home and transfers it to the underground loop where it’s then absorbed by the cooler earth. The geothermal heat pump uses the cool water returning from the earth to create cool, dehumidified air inside your home.

Ground-Source Heat Pump | Heat Pump Energy Efficiency

Ground source/geo-thermal heat pumps consist of outdoor condensing units and a network of underground coils, all connected to your indoor air handler and air ducts. But the real story behind these combined heating and cooling systems is their unbeatable energy efficiency.

While geothermal heat pumps may have a higher upfront cost than conventional heating and cooling systems purchased separately, they offer significant long-term savings through superior energy efficiency and reduced reliance on electricity and fossil fuels. According to the Department of Energy, heat pumps are up to 70% more energy efficient than home heating systems, and up to 40% more efficient than central air conditioners. That adds up to some serious cost savings throughout the year.
